Getting Started

What is Ardents?

Ardents is a passionate dating app for singles, couples, and every kind of connection worth burning for.

Who can join?

Anyone 18 or older looking for genuine connection — singles, couples, and everyone exploring ethical non-monogamy. You are an Ardent the moment you sign up.

How do I use the app? What do all these words mean?

You browse Thermal Signals (profiles) in the Gallery. Send a Spark (a like) to someone who catches your eye, or Cool them (pass) to move on. When two people Spark each other, that's a Combustion — a mutual match — and you can start exchanging Ardent Notes (messages).

What's "Your Vibe"?

Your Vibe is a set of lifestyle tags you pick during setup — they show on your Thermal Signal and power a Vibe Match percentage on cards, so you can see at a glance how much your lifestyles line up. You can edit them anytime from your profile.

Do I have to verify before I can do anything?

You can browse and Spark right away, but you must verify before you can send messages. It takes about five seconds — literally.

Couples on Ardents

How do we create a couple profile?

One partner creates the couple profile and gets an 8-character invite code. Send it to your partner, they accept, and your joint Thermal Signal goes live. Both partners need to individually verify for the couple to be verified.

Can I still date as myself if I'm in a couple?

Yes. You can browse as yourself (Solo) or as your couple — switch anytime using the toggle in the Gallery header. Your solo profile and your couple profile are separate signals.

We matched with someone as a couple — how does chat work?

Automatically. When a couple matches with a single, you get a 3-way conversation with all three of you in it. Couple matches couple? That's a 4-way. No group-chat setup, no juggling threads — Ardents handles it based on who matched.

Do both partners see the couple's matches and messages?

Yes — the couple profile is shared, so Combustions and Ardent Notes on the couple's signal belong to both of you. That's the point: no secrets, no side channels.

Sparks, Combustions & Chat

How many Sparks do I get?

Free Ardents get 50 Sparks every day — plenty to keep the Gallery warm. Ardent Prime makes them unlimited.

What's a Super Spark?

A Super Spark is a super like — a way to say "you stand out" before you've even matched. You get 2 free per day.

I passed on someone by accident. Can I undo it?

Yes — that's Rewind. Free Ardents get 1 Rewind per day; Prime makes Rewinds unlimited.

What's a Sparky Reply?

A Sparky Reply lets you respond to a specific photo on someone's Thermal Signal before you've matched — a real opener, not just a like. Prime members get unlimited Sparky Replies.

Can I see who Sparked me?

That's Sparks Detected. On the free tier you'll see they're there, but blurred. Ardent Prime unblurs the whole rail so you can see exactly who's already interested.

What happens when we match?

COMBUSTION! You and your match are on fire — you'll both get notified, and you can start trading Ardent Notes immediately.

Transmissions

What are Transmissions?

Transmissions are 24-hour stories — photos or videos up to 15 seconds — visible only to your Combustions. Not your followers, not the public, not people you haven't matched with. Just your matches.

How long do Transmissions last?

24 hours, then they're gone — hard-deleted from our servers, not archived. Ardent Prime extends your Transmissions to 48 hours.

Can I see who viewed my Transmission?

Yes — each Transmission shows a "Seen by" list of the Combustions who viewed it.

How many can I post, and can I take one down early?

You can send up to 10 broadcasts per day, and yes — you can take any Transmission down early whenever you like.

Verification & Safety

How does verification work?

You record a short selfie video — about 5 seconds — doing a randomized pose we give you. It confirms you're a real human matching your photos. Verified profiles get a green check, and verification is required before you can send messages.

Will other users see my verification video?

Never. Verification videos are private, used only to verify you, and are never shown to other users.

How do I block someone?

From any profile or any conversation. Blocking works both ways — they vanish from your Ardents and you vanish from theirs.

How do I report someone?

Open their profile or your conversation and tap Report, then choose a category. Every report is taken seriously — we aim to review reports within 24 hours. We also run AI moderation that screens messages, and everyone agrees to our community guidelines at signup.

Does Ardents run background checks?

No. Verification confirms someone is a real person who matches their photos — it doesn't vouch for their history. Meet smart: keep early conversations in the app, meet in public the first time, tell someone where you're going, and trust your gut. If anything feels off, block and report.

Ardent Prime & Purchases

What do I get with Ardent Prime?

Unlimited Sparks, Sparks Detected unblurred, Elevated Signal (after you Spark someone, your Thermal Signal rises to the top of their Gallery), unlimited Sparky Replies and Rewinds, monthly Super Spark and Signal Boost allotments, 48-hour Transmissions, read receipts, AI icebreaker suggestions, and the Golden Ardent Heart badge on your profile.

What's a Signal Boost?

A Signal Boost pushes your Thermal Signal to the front of nearby Ardents' Galleries for 30 minutes — maximum visibility exactly when you want it. Signal Boost is a Prime / paid feature.

How much does Ardent Prime cost?

Current pricing is always shown in the app. If you subscribe during our launch window, you'll get the Founders Rate — locked in for as long as your subscription stays active.

I was given Prime free — what's the catch?

No catch. Some Ardents receive complimentary Prime — that one's on us. Enjoy it.

How do I cancel my subscription?

On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Ardents. Important: deleting the app — or even deleting your account — does not cancel an Apple subscription. Always cancel through iPhone Settings. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for details.

Your Account & Privacy

What's the difference between deactivating and deleting my account?

Deactivating hides you from everyone — your Thermal Signal disappears from the Gallery, and you can come back anytime just by logging in. Deleting is permanent: your profile, photos, matches, and messages are removed for good.

How do I take a break without losing everything?

Deactivate. You're invisible while you're away, and everything is right where you left it when you log back in.

Can other users see my exact location?

No. Other Ardents see your distance from them — never your exact location.

What happens to my Transmissions and verification video?

Transmissions media is hard-deleted from our servers when it expires. Your verification video stays private and is never shown to other users.
